Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)

As the central part of the face, the nose is one of the most important features of your body. Depending on age, gender, ethnicity, history of injury, and genetics, your nose is unique.

Sometimes, individuals desire a change to their nose, whether to make it look more refined, or improve the way it functions. All noses are very personal, and therefore Dr. Yamamoto carefully creates individualized plans for each rhinoplasty he performs. Taking into account what you’d like to see change, how your nose functions, and any history of your nose (like trauma or previous surgeries), Dr. Yamamoto will discuss with you the best options to achieve the look and function you desire.

The procedure involves either a small incision under your nose (external approach) or incisions hidden entirely inside the nose (endonasal approach).  The cartilage and bone of your nose is repositioned and reshaped to create your new look. Recovery time after rhinoplasty is typically one week. A dressing over the nose is left in place for about 5 days to protect the area that was worked on. After the dressing is removed, you are free to resume normal activities. You will follow up with Dr. Yamamoto over the next several months to ensure good healing and an excellent result.

Going through your rhinoplasty procedure, you can expect a thorough consultation with Dr. Yamamoto who will collaborate with you on what you’d like to see change and what your expectations are. After that, a comprehensive preoperative plan will be discussed to help prepare you for the procedure and recovery time.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty

Non-surgical alternatives to cosmetic surgery are becoming more and more popular these days.  While this applies mostly to the face, we cannot leave out the nose!

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a straightforward, in-office procedure that can help you get the nose you want without surgery.  So what is involved in a non-surgical rhinoplasty?

With the advances of dermal fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, etc.), we have extended their use to the nose area.  Using fillers on the nose is a technique to build up or augment an area that needs enhanced shape.  Injecting very small amounts of filler in specific areas can sculpt you an improved nose.

Good examples of what non-surgical rhinoplasty can address:

  • a low and flat bridge of the nose can be augmented to give the area more balance and better shape
  • a crooked nose can be carefully evened out with dermal filler carefully placed on one side
  • a hump can be camouflaged by injecting small amounts of filler around it
  • a wide nose can be made to look more narrow by carefully augmenting the center portion of the bridge

Remember that the nose is a very intricate, delicate, and individualized feature on every person’s face.  A non-surgical rhinoplasty is essentially “liquid sculpting” with a dermal filler.  It takes a surgeon with expert understanding of nasal anatomy, experience in surgical rhinoplasty, and a keen artistic eye for the nose to get you a great result.  He should also be excellent at injecting dermal fillers!

While non-surgical rhinoplasty can address specific issues of the nose, it does not completely replace rhinoplasty for other areas that need to be changed.

If you want to know if a non-surgical rhinoplasty is right for you, come see Dr. Yamamoto for a free consultation.  You may be amazed at how much we can improve your nose after just a short procedure in the office.
