Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), conducts a survey to discover the
latest trends and explore the future of our specialty. I am always interested in seeing the nationwide
results and how they mirror my plastic surgery practice here in Reno.

Here are some highlights:
- We are seeing an increase in demand for cosmetic
surgery or injectable treatments in patients under the age of 30. - The “Kardashian Effect” is alive and well. Kylie Jenner’s famous lips on social media
have increased demand for procedures like lip enhancement. - Celebrities have become more up-front about
their cosmetic work and are one of the main influences in a patient’s decision
to have plastic surgery. - Surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures
have become more mainstream and are finding their way out of the medical office,
however, - Consumers are becoming more educated every year,
and prioritize finding a highly-skilled surgeon and injector they can trust
over cost or convenience. - Botox, along with Dysport and Xeomin, remain the
most popular procedure. - Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is the most
requested facial surgery. - Facial maintenance, the insurance on your
investment, will be emphasized even more in the future. We have many new products and technologies
that focus on maintenance now. Prevention is key in preserving your youthful
face.
